According to his brother Rana Wakeel Hassan, MPA Rana Jamil along with his wife was away to attend the funeral of a close relative and was on his way back to Islamabad when unidentified armed kidnappers took them away near Sial roundabout at Pindi Bhattian Interchange.
The kidnappers blindfolded the couple and took them away to an undisclosed location, however, they freed Rana Jamil’s wife in Rawalpindi with a message to arrange Rs 50 million ransom amount. The kidnappers told that they would contact later.
Taking notice of the incident, Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif has sought report from Inspector General Punjab on MPA Rana Jamil’s kidnapping. He instructed the IG Punjab to undertake all the possible steps for his release.
